Dr. Gertler, M.Ed., D.C., has a unique combination of more than 30 years of experience plus a dedication to advanced chiropractic and applied kinesiology techniques.
Dr. Gertler is a chiropractic kinesiologist and the founder of the Center for Holistic Health (also called Advanced Chiropractic) in Oakland, California. Because he is a kinesiologist, Dr. Gertler uses manual muscle testing to identify and treat imbalances in the body, will (emotions) and mind. Dr. Gertler has practiced chiropractic and holistic healing for over thirty years and has been a health educator since 1976.
Dr. Gertler studied the art and science of chiropractic at National College of Chiropractic in Lombard, Illinois. While a student, he wrote the first textbook on extremity technique, Illustrated Manual of Extravertebral for Students and Doctors, and its companion volume, Supplement: Lower Extremity Technique. These texts pioneered the teaching of diagnosis and treatment of sports injuries and were adopted for class use at the then-named National College of Chiropractic and several other Southern California chiropractic colleges.
Licensed by the state of California in 1977, Dr. Gertler taught extremity technique at the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic for over two years, while also studying Applied Kinesiology with David Walther, D.C., DIBAK in San Diego. Over the next twenty years, he continued his study of advanced and alternative kinesiologies, completing over 1000 hours of additional training with Applied Kinesiology diplomates and with alternative kinesiology teachers. He did this so he could truly be holistic, i.e., well versed in diagnosing and treating the structural, biochemical and mental-emotional conditions in his clients. This is especially true for chronic and acute conditions that don’t respond to conventional treatment.
His teachers include George Goodheart, D.C. DIBAK, Walter Schmitt D.C. DIBAK , Victor Frank, D.C., Carl Ferreri, D.C., Scott Walker, Fred Ulan, D.C., Devi Nambudripad. M.D., D.C., L.Ac., John Diamond, M.D. From 1997-1999 he assisted Tim Francis, D.C., DIBAK in teaching the updated 300 hour course in Applied Kinesiology in Santa Clara, CA. From 1999 to present, he continues to study functional biochemistry and emotional techniques with Christopher Smith, D.O., DIBAK.
